Pitbulls? What do you think when you hear that word? Scary, vicious dogs that are no good for our society? Do you think that they are evil and twisted animals? Or how about that they’re aggressive and have a jaw locking ability with the strongest jaw bite of any other breed? All those questions are false.
Pitbulls are a severely misunderstood breed. Firstly,
pitbull is an incredibly vague term. Yes, it’s referring to a breed of dog, but
pitbulls are mostly a combination of several breeds. For example, Boxers and
Boston Terriers are considered part of the “bully breed.” To understand what a
pitbull is, you have to look into each specific breed. Another strong
misconception of the pitbull breed is they’re extremely aggressive, especially
around children. According to American Temperament Test Society, who tests
stability, aggressiveness, protectiveness, and overall friendliness, roughly
86% of Pitbulls have passed their test. Shockingly, only 85% of Golden
Retrievers passed their test. Even worse, only 70% of Chihuahua’s passed their
tests. Now I’m not going to judge or shame any breed of dogs because all dogs
deserve love and happiness, but pitbulls need our help. There’s rescues all
around the world trying to get the public and media to stop shaming our beloved
fur friends, and we’re on an uphill battle. Many countries have a ban on dogs
even looking like a specific breed, especially pitbulls. Non-profit rescues all
around the world, especially those that put their hearts into each dog, need
help.

Do you believe in equal rights? Do you think you are entitled to not be criticized on how you look? Do you think everyone deserves a fair chance at life?
I’ve joined the fight, will you?
