Let Freedom Ring: Pitbull Edition

Everyone want's freedom, when are we going to give EVERYONE freedom?

The life of any living thing is a blessing. Majority of people will agree, and will also in turn agree with every living thing deserves a fair chance of life. Why do the same people who believe everything should get a fair chance at life also say that pitbulls should be banned? Why do Pitbulls have to be banned over any other breed? Why do dogs looking like pitbulls have to be shamed or banned as well? Why must pitbulls get so much hate?

A few days ago, I went home to visit my parents and my dogs. I should mention I have three dogs, I have a lab, a lab/pit mix, and a Staffordshire Terrier. Now, none of my dogs are related in anyway. Out of all three of my dogs, which breed do you think is a more social one? If you’d guess the full lab, well you’d be wrong. My full lab, Chelsea, she’s a black lab. She’s a wonderful dog, and full of love. Around people, she’s super friendly. Around other dogs? She can get aggressive. That doesn’t sound like your standard lab breed, does it? You’re next guess, the lab/pit mix? Well, you’re getting closer. My lab/pit mix, she’s mostly brown lab, but she has physical attributes associated with a pitbull. She is the most lovable, and happy dog I can think of. She’s super friendly with people, and with some other dogs, but not all dogs. She’s protective of her not so little puppy “sister”. She’s not aggressive in anyway, but she’s protective. Now if the first guess you had on which one of my dogs are the most social able was my Staffy, then you’re correct! Zoey, our blue staffy, is the biggest baby and most social able dog out of all of our dogs. She’s a spoiled little pampered baby. You don’t cover her up with a blanket fast enough, you’ve just unleashed her whimpering and whining voice. You don’t allow her to do anything that you’re doing, really, she cries and cries. She loves people, and other dogs. She’s all around, a very social creature. Although, she has one fatal flaw: she may lick you to death if you come too close. Or chase you if you leave without giving a goodbye ear rub.

Every couple of decades, people decide which dogs they’re afraid of. Today, golden retrievers are beloved family dogs. Not so long ago, they were thought of as vicious and aggressive, German Shepard’s were also feared, and so were Doberman’s, and even variations of Husky’s. Just like what Pitbulls are thought of now. So if those stereotypes can change, why can’t all stereotypes change?

Together, we can inform the stereotype believers and help our beloved fur friends. Together, we can help give every Pitbull, and Pitbull look-a-like breed, a better chance at life. A life without discrimination. A life without hatred. A life that is better than ever imagined. All it takes is one person. One person can start a revolution. Together, we can do this.

I’ve joined the fight, will you?
